12 hurt as taxi crashes through wall, into house

Johannesburg – Ten children and two adults were injured when a minibus taxi, allegedly driven by an underage teen, crashed through a wall and into a house in Kempton Park on the East Rand, on Wednesday, paramedics said.

“Twelve people had been inside the taxi in the collision, 10 of them children aged between 4 and 12,” ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that all twelve occupants had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.”

“Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to Tembisa Hospital for further observations.”

He said the 17-year-old taxi driver allegedly said his brakes had failed, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

Police could not immediately confirm the incident.
