Some 900 health workers in Kisii county have been promoted.
County Public Service Board chairman David Kombo said he received more than 1,000 files from the Health ministry.
These are workers who have were not promoted since before devolution.
Kombo spoke to the Star to the phone yesterday.
This was after an analysis ordered by Governor James Ongwae showed that a high number health workers have served for more than 10 years without promotion.
The analysis was conducted by the Public Service Board.
On Monday, county secretary Johnstone Ndege wrote to all the health workers, saying Ongwae has directed Kombo to promote all those who have served in the same grade for more than three years effective from August 1.
Ndege said it is not possible to reflect the promotions in the payroll this month since the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Database system has been closed.
He said promotions will be reflected next month.
“The board is scrutinising other files,” Ndege said.
