Army makes more breakthroughs against Boko Haram

The police chief said he was in the state to boost the morale of the men of the command especially in their battle against the Boko Haram insurgency.

What makes the conflicting reports more confusing is the fact that both the governor and the Army chief, are on ground, in Borno state.

A statement by the senior special assistant on media and publicity to the president, Malam Shehu Garba, noted that the president spoke through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr David Lawal, who led the president’s delegation to the two states attacked by the insurgents at the weekend.

He stated this when he sent a powerful delegation to two North East states of Adamawa and Borno to condole with their governments and people over the increased bombing activity by the terror group.

“No Boko Haram is holding any territory in Nigeria at the momment, I have not heard any Boko Haram member or leader making such claim, they are no more in control,”, Buratai told reporters in Jos yesterday after addressing troops at the Headquarters of 3 Division, the Marxwel Khobe Cantonment.

I want to congratulate all of you for being part of this operation because Nigerians are watching and waiting for you to finish up these criminals called Boko Haram.”We still reiterate our call for citizens to remain confident in the ability of our troops to eliminate all remaining vestiges of the terrorists before the year runs out in line with Presidential directives”.

Ogunsakin said the insurgents would soon go into extinction with the combined efforts of the Nigerian security to meet the December deadline of President Muhammadu Buhari “but everyone needs to be on red alert to combat them as they are more risky now than in the past”. Gen. Hassan Umaru and others.

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Yusuf Buratai, on Monday visited the newly deployed troops of the 29 Task force Brigade at Benisheik and Gamdu towns of Kaga Local Government Areas of Borno State in north-east Nigeria.

“The ward head, the village head and the local police knew every new entrant into the community”.
