If you were a musical celebrity, would you sing about your mother? Better yet how often would you remind her just how much she meant to you?

Well, perhaps you would, or maybe it would be too much work. As fans across the country dedicate “Mama” to their mother in celebration of mother’s day, singer Bahati affirmed that if his mother was around, he would remind her just how much she meant.

“Enyewe I see my fans & family dedicate it to their Mum’s and each of this #MOTHERSDAY have always wished you were here. I swear I would be singing to you each of this day,” Bahati said In his letter he continues to explain how he was fortunate to complete high school because it was his mother’s wish, but he was forced to do music because it was his only way out of the hard slum life in Mathare.

“Mum even in this mountain called life you said losing hope should never be part of me. I managed to clear High School which was one of the things you urged me to. But I opted to do music because shida nazo zilikua kibao mtaani Mathare,” He added. Well, clearly music turned out well for him. Here is Bahati’s heartfelt message as he expressed himself.
