BlackBerry has launched a new tablet dubbed SecuTABLET, based on Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5. IBM and SecuSmart have also worked on the new BlackBerry tablet, the company said.

The new BlackBerry tablet comes with an IBM software suite and a specialized MicroSD card from SecuSmart that combines several cryptographic chips in order to keep data on the tablet protected.

The tablet also comes equipped with Samsung’s Knox technology, which keeps the tablet’s OS from being tampered with. An additional layer of protection is provided by IBM’s software that encrypts and decrypts data flowing through SecuSmart system.

Although there isn’t any technical specification sheet released by the company for SecuTABLET, it would be safe to assume that it has the same specification as Galaxy Tab S 10.5. The highlights being – 3GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB internal storage expandable to 128 GB, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel full HD front camera. The tablet also sports a 7,900 mAh battery to provide enough juice for more than a day.

The tablet is expected to retail at close to $2,300 with all the extra security measures.
