Detectives raid Kazungu office over CDF cash

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers yesterday raided outgoing Malindi MP Dan Kazungu’s CDF office to seek information over alleged loss of Sh30 million.

The funds had been set aside to buy land for construction of a dumping site at Kakuyuni ward as well as the construction of  CDF offices.  Led by EACC North Coast coordinator George Ojowi, the officers recovered documents in the mid-morning operation.

Kazungu has since been nominated as Mining Cabinet secretary. Kilifi county government claims the MP used the cash to build CDF offices on a road reserve, a project the county has already stopped.  “We have taken the documents that we need and I think they will help us make conclusive investigations,” said Ojowi.
