THE Supreme Court on Friday directed the Electoral Commission to register Kenyans in the diaspora to participate in all the six sets of the 2017 general election.

The court dismissed the IEBC’s appeal to limit voting to the presidential poll only.

Five judges directed the IEBC to ensure that the diaspora participate in the presidency, senatorial, governor, MP, women’s representative and MCA elections.

The suit was filed by Kenya Diaspora Alliance, New Vision Kenya, former Karachuonyo MP Shem Ochuodo and Gichane Muraguri, who wanted to participate fully in the March 4, 2013 elections.
