Everton’s Romelu Lukaku wants move to a “top club”

After facing his former side Chelsea in the Premier League, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has said he wants to move to a top club, despite having only joined the Toffees on a permanent deal in the summer, reports Sky Sports.

Lukaku, 21, has scored 10 goals in 36 games this season, earning himself a permanent £28M move from Chelsea following a successful loan spell in the last campaign. The Belgian international played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but was on the losing team, with Jose Mourinho’s men running out 1-0 winners.

But while Lukaku’s form has been inconsistent this campaign, he still believes he should be aiming to join a “top club”, saying: “It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception. They know I’m a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again.”

It’s unlikely Everton would be so keen to let their first-choice striker leave so easily, given how much they’d spent to procure him from the Londoners, so his recent quotes will come as a surprise for manager Roberto Martinez.
