Ex CMC director charged over guard’s death, freed on bail

Kibe committed the alleged offence early Tuesday at Runda Estate along UN Avenue

Former CMC director and Nairobi businessman Joel Kibe on Thursday denied killing a night guard through dangerous driving.

Kibe who faced three counts of careless driving causing injuries, causing death and driving while under the influence of alcohol was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 pending trial on March 30.

Kibe committed the alleged offence early Tuesday at Runda Estate along UN Avenue.

Kibe failed to appear in court on Wednesday as he was said to be on bed rest following injuries he sustained during accident.

His lawyer Cliff Ombetta had on Wednesday provided the court with documents to show that his client had suffered two broken ribs and doctors note that he should rest.

Kenyans on social media were outraged after a video showing Kibe at the accident scene went viral.
