AN overhaul of Facebook notifications will introduce more features for users in a bid to make the social networking site more dynamic.
FACEBOOK notifications are set to change in a bid to make the social networking site more dynamic.
No timing for the overhaul have been announced as yet – but it is likely to go live first in America before the rest of the world.
The social network has been trying out a new-style notifications tab which gathers material from across the entire website and displays it in one place.
Mashable report that the changes will see things relevant to a particular day being displayed.
The tab will contain birthdays, life events from friends, events joined and nearby places such as local restaurants, which will be time sensitive, for example showing place open for breakfast.
In addition, the feature will show trending topics (similar to Twitter), viral news in your locality and today in the past, based on previous posts and pictures.
A ‘nearby friends’ feature will also show who is around your town or city at that moment.
Facebook have confirmed the plans saying they see ‘a notifications tab that adds additional, relevant content about everything that maybe helpful to know on a particular day’.
No timings for the changes have been announced but it will probably go live first in the USA before the rest of the world.
