High Court Declines Suspension Of Security Law

The High Court has declined to suspend the new Security law as requested by CORD and KNCHR.

CORD had moved to court to challenge the legality of the new security amendments act passed in parliament and enacted last week.

In its petition, CORD wanted the gazettement and implementation of the new security laws suspended on grounds that they violate the constitution.

The security amendments Bill was passed in the National Assembly last Thursday amid chaos and fighting in the house before it was signed by the President into law.

The case is set to be heard on 29th December.
