Idris Elba’s James Bond Gets Another Fan: 007 Himself, Pierce Brosnan!

Back in December, when the movie industry was in a twist during the Kim Jong-un “The Interview” situation that saw thousands of Sony Pictures inside e-mails hacked, one of them featured then Sony CEO Amy Pascal talking about the possibility of Idris Elba as James Bond once Daniel Craig stepped down from the role of 007 – and there’s at least one Bond who would be on board!

Traditionally, the most famous secret agent in MI6 has been played by white men, but they have all been different in looks and, up until the 2006 reboot “Casino Royale,” they had all followed the same storyline, much like “Doctor Who” but without any explanation whatsoever – so why not see Idris Elba’s James Bond order a Vodka Martini shaken, not stirred?

According to The Guardian, the possibility of Idris Elba’s James Bond appearance has at least one fan: 90s Bond Pierce Brosnan, the man who played the suave agent in films like “GoldenEye” and “Die Another Day.”

As The Independent notes, a lot of people have already backed the idea of Idris Elba as James Bond, including Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx and controversial rapper Kanye West (though Kim Kardashian’s husband has yet to get up at an awards show to demand that Elba be given an award).

However, the heaviest of all sponsors has now come Elba’s way, as one of the most popular James Bond actors has stepped out to say that he’d be a great choice to play the role of Commander Bond.

As Brosnan spoke candidly about what he thought would be a good future for the franchise that started way back in 1962, Idris Elba’s James Bond wasn’s his only choice, as he also mentioned another black actor: Colin Salomon, with whom he worked in “The World is Not Enough” and “Die Another Day.”

The 007 role was made famous by Oscar winner Sean Connery, and ever since it has been played by five other actors: George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Brosnan and Craig.

“I know Idris a little bit and he is a big talent,” Brosnan said about Idris Elba’s James Bond possibilities, according to The Daily Mail. “James Bond is a role made for British actors and you won’t find a British actor who has the talent of Idris. To be honest you won’t find many anywhere who have his talent.”
