A petition filed by ODM candidate Moses Kajwang at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) touching on the forthcoming Homabay senate by-election has been dismissed.
Kajwang had lodged an official complaint following chaos that marred his campaigns on the 30th of January.
IEBC had expected to hold a session to listen to the complainant and interested parties on Thursday but has tweeted: “Petition by Homabay ODM candidate dismissed as both complainant & witnesses fail to appear to give evidence as required by law.”
In his petition, Kajwang’ had urged the electoral body to probe last Friday’s events when he was reportedly roughed up.
Kajwang’ wanted the candidate whose supporters are alleged to have been behind the attack suspended but the IEBC says the probe has been halted following his no-show.
