The fate of the two titans will be decided next weekend when they meet in a top of the table clash at Nakuru Athletic Club in the last rounds of the fixtures.

Under an arrangement introduced by Kenya Cup clubs at the start of this season, the team finishing top of the log at the close of the regular season hosts the semi-final slotted for March 7 and as matters stands, either of the two sides stands a chance of earning the hosting rights.

Pan Africa Strathmore Leos are their closest opposition, lying third on 45 points coming off nine wins and two defeats and barring a series of shock results for KCB and Nakuru, cannot finish the regular season in a higher position.

At the bottom of the log, Mombasa Sport Club’s two season stints in the Kenya Cup appears to be over with two rounds of the regular season left.

The side returned to the country’s top tier for the 2013/14 season after narrowly escaping relegation at the expense of Eldoret and Kisumu who were relegated to the second tier Nationwide league.

Things have been different this term for the 1952 and 1997 Enterprise Cup winners who currently trail the table, winless after eleven outings and have two fixtures left against Homeboyz and Kenya Harlequin.

Another side that is staring relegation are debutants Catholic University who sit second last on four points after managing just one win.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s Kenya Cup tie pitting Strathmore Leos against second Nakuru will now be played at 4.00pm at the Impala Club, and not at the Lions Den in Ruaraka as earlier scheduled.

The final will be held March 14 at Nairobi’s RFUEA Grounds.
