Kenya became the first African country to premiere Lupita Nyong’o’s new movie Star Wars: Force Awakens last week.

Kenyan fans were waiting with bated breath for the latest installation of epic franchise, which features Hollywood sweetheart and Kenyan born Lupita Nyong’o.  Star Wars die-hards and Lupita fans thronged the newly refurbished Westage Mall’s Planet Media Cinemas on 17th December for a rare treat of the exclusive premiere.

They were treated to a cocktail reception before the screening of the movie courtesy of Subway Kenya.

The movie in its seventh installation has enjoyed massive pre – release hype. To Kenyans, the hype was centred on Lupita who is starring in what has been termed by movie critics the greatest movie of our times.

Lupita plays CGI character Maz Kanata, a computer-generated character who according to her fans did not deliver as expected.
