Kenya’s opposition move censure motion against House Speaker

Kenya’s National Assembly on Tuesday moved a censure motion against the speaker of the house, Justin Muturi. The censure motion was moved by Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Patrick Mweu Musimba, from the opposition who is accusing Muturi of failing to protect the dignity, integrity and honour of the House by using discourteous language against members.

Aware that the said allegations have eroded the collective dignity, esteem and honour of Members of Parliament in and out of the House, concerned that the Speaker in so doing has failed in his constitutional duty to protect the dignity, honour and integrity of Parliament, this House expresses its displeasure and disappointment in the conduct of the Speaker and censures him, Dr. Musimba said.

The opposition MP’s have vowed to show how the Speaker has mismanaged the House and behaved badly towards the members of parliament.

However, the MP’s allied to the ruling Jubilee administration vowed to shoot down the motion for lack of substance.
