Ten Kikuyu elders on Friday visited the site of the fallen Mugumo tree at former minister Chris Murungaru’s home at Game Rock, Nyeri county.

The elders, led by Kiama Kia Ma Council chairman Kariuki Kabue, said they went to confirm if the century-old tree had indeed fallen.

“We heard the news on the media and we just came to confirm it. We will arrange for the cleansing ceremony. But for now the tree should stay untouched until the ceremony is done,” Kabue said.

He was with moderator Mathenge wa Iregi and other elders.

Kabue said the elders will conduct the ceremony possibly next week.

The tree was used by Kikuyu elders for sacrifices two decades ago before they stopped.
