Lupita Nyong’o, Rosamund Pike show flair for Oscars fashion

Sunday’s Academy Awards provided lots of fun fashion. Think Lupita Nyong’o with her 6,000 pearls and Rosamund Pike’s firecracker of a dress, writes Los Angeles Times fashion critic Booth Moore. [Los Angeles Times]

Patricia Arquette was notable at the Oscars for many reasons. She won in the supporting actress category, of course. She gave a rousing speech for equal pay, refused to play the mani-cam game on the red carpet, and amid all the expensive bling, wore an especially noteworthy ring. It was a new Pure Grown Diamond, a gem whose makers said in a news release is indistinguishable from mined diamonds but is made in a lab, avoiding the environmental and human rights problems associated with mining.
