Former Parliament Speaker Kenneth Marende has been appointed chairman of the Kenya Power Board of Directors. Marende takes over from Eliazar Ochola whose term has expired. Though Marende was picked by his co-directors at the electricity distribution company, national politics could have played a role in his appointment, since the government is the majority shareholder at electricity distributor.
