Hundreds of Muslims are converging at the National Mosque in Old Kampala to pray together and to show support for Muslim unity.

Hajji Nsereko Mutumba the public relations officer of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council says the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, the Amiir Daula Sheikh Sulaiman Kakeeto and the acting Amiir Ummah Sheikh Yahaya Mwanje will be among several other Muslim leaders who will address the congregation.

The massive unity drive is the result of a meeting of the Mufti and the Amiirs earlier this month. However, the Kibuli faction of Muslims led by the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Zubairi Kayongo had said earlier this week, that they would not be part of the unity prayers.
