President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed into law the mediated version of the Division of Revenue Allocation Bill 2015 and Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2015.
The Division of Revenue Act, 2015 will see counties in the new financial year get 287.04 billion shillings.
The bill has however stirred controversy with the Council of Governors lashing at the National Assembly for what it called illogical reallocation of monies meant for various government institutions without consultations.
The National assembly reduced allocations to the Judiciary, Treasury, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission as well as the Senate to cater for the additional 3.3 billion shillings that had been proposed by the senate for the counties.
The Supplementary Appropriation Act, 2015 has authorized the release of 50 billion shillings from the Consolidated Fund for utilization by government in fulfilling its financial obligations for the remaining part of the financial year that ends on June 30.
