Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has asked Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario to quit the post for failing to address the challenges affecting the ministry.

According to Ababu who is the former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary General, the embattled CS should take responsibility for the problems that have affected the ministry’s performance.

The legislator specifically had issues with Wario’s failure to deal with challenges that Kenyan athletes faced during the recently concluded Olympic games at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, reports the Star.

“Let President Uhuru Kenyatta intervene as a matter of urgency so that a permanent solution can be found to the challenges facing sports in the country,” said Ababu as quoted in the paper.

The MP who has joined a lengthening list of leaders calling for Wario’s resignation, was speaking to mourners at a burial ceremony in Bukani village, Port Victoria, in Budalangi constituency on Saturday, August 27.

On matters politics, the firebrand politician put Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula (also Bungoma senator) and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi on the spot, asking them to work together and give voters in the Western region the direction to take ahead of next year’s polls.

Wetangula and Mudavadi have both declared they will be on the ballot in the 2017 presidential race.
