Supreme Court allows 3 Media Houses to Continue Analogue Broadcasting

TV viewers in Nairobi and its environs will continue to watch their favorite programs through the analogue platform after the Supreme Court stayed orders stopping the switch off of three leading stations. The court upheld Deputy Chief Justice Kalpana Rawal’s orders that stopped the communications authority of Kenya from switching off Citizen TV, KTN, QTV and NTV from the analogue platform. The orders will stay in place until a date that will be announced by the same court.    Chief justice Willy Mutunga and Judge Mohamed Ibrahim have also directed that the application by the media houses for more time to lay infrastructure for digital broadcasting, be heard by a full judge bench of the Supreme Court.
