Ten murder suspects were denied bail in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court, Eastern Cape, on Wednesday.
They allegedly beat a man to death on December 1 in what police believed was a mob justice attack, police spokesman Nkosikho Mzuku said.
The suspects believed the victim stole money at a shebeen in the Silvertown area.
“The shebeen owner allegedly organised the community to be on a look-out for the deceased. They found him and allegedly assaulted him to death.”
The 10, aged between 20 and 40, would remain in custody until their next court appearance on January 5.
