Two men have been drowned and a woman raped at Rhodes Park in Kensington, east of Johannesburg.
It’s understood two couples had been walking in the park at about 7pm last night when they were attacked by a gang of 12 men.
Police say the two men were tied up and thrown into the dam where they drowned. It’s understood one of the women, believed to their wives, was also raped.
Police divers retrieved the victims’ bodies from the water at about 11pm last night.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said no arrests have been made.
“The police were alerted but when they arrived at the park the suspects had already gone. Police paramedics recovered the bodies [of the men] and they were certified dead at the scene. Officers are appealing to anyone who might have information to contact their nearest police station or phone Crime Stop on 08600-10111,” he said.
