UK official: Ending graft will increase investment in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) ” British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond says eliminating corruption in Kenya will the open the gate for investment, business and trade “like never before.”

Hammond, who is on an official visit to Kenya, said Thursday one of the impediments preventing Kenya from achieving double digit growth is corruption. Getting corruption under control will hugely enhance the business climate and economic growth, which means more jobs, Hammond said. Transparency International, in its 2014 corruption perception index, ranked Kenya close to the bottom ” 145 out of 175 countries.
