Volkswagen, Chrysler, GM to recall defective vehicles in China

Those recalled included 112 Volkswagen Beatles 2.0T, 3,369 Chrysler Grand Cherokee and 80 General Motors Cadillac Escalade

Beijing: Volkswagen AG, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, General Motors Co are recalling defective vehicles in China following a directive from the country’s top quality watchdog.

Those recalled included 112 Volkswagen Beatles 2.0T, 3,369 Chrysler Grand Cherokee and 80 General Motors Cadillac Escalade, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement. The recall will start on December 31, 2014.

The affected 80 General Motors Cadillac Escalade were manufactured between 10 May 2011 and 13 May 2011. The auto makers will repair the faulty components free of charge, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted the statement as saying.
