A political rally in Dandora Stadium that had been convened by Water cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa turned chaotic after rowdy youth stormed the venue, forcing attendees to flee for safety.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko stormed the rally and took control of the dais after CS Wamalwa, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and host Embakasi North legislator James Gakunya had fled the venue.

Drama began when Senator Sonko arrived at the venue and went straight up the podium where Bishop Margaret Wanjiru – who has expressed interest in running for Nairobi governorship in 2017 – was addressing the gathering.

Sonko urged Bishop Wanjiru to hand over the microphone to him, but she was adamant.

It is at that point when charged youth started heading to the stage while chanting pro-Sonko praises.

Eugene Wamalwa and team were forced to cut short their rally, leaving Sonko behind to address the crowd.

Reports claim that Eugene Wamalwa, Moses Kuria, Bishop Wanjiru and James Gakunya had convened the rally to mobilize support for Wamalwa and Wanjiru in 2017 Nairobi gubernatorial race.

The two who have since expressed interest in becoming the capital’s boss, have shown interest in running for the leadership position on Jubilee Party ticket.

Sonko has equally expressed his interest to succeed Governor Evans Kidero who remains in the race to retain the seat in 2017.
