The Kisii government has signed a deal with the African Development Bank to upgrade four roads.

Governor James Ongwae said feeder roads, among them Oyugis-Rioma, Nyakoe-Nyatieko, Nyachenge-Tabaka-Ogembo and Suneka-Motonto-Egetuki will be upgraded.

The main project is the rehabilitation of the Ahero-Kisii-Isebania road.

Ongwae said Daraja Mbili market will be rehabilitated and a new bus stop built.

He spoke during Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Gusii Stadium on Saturday.

“Besides easing transport challenges, this road project will be a boon for our economy as it will help connect Kisii to regional markets,” Ongwae said.

He said the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital will be the first in the Western Kenya to offer MRI services.

“Installation is complete. Last week, the technicians conducted initial tests and residents will start enjoying its services next week,” Ongwae said.

He said the county and national governments are equipping KTRH and Gucha Subcounty Hospital with modern machines.
