Nairobi, Kenya: Dennis Muhanji has been recalled to the Kenya Sevens national team for this weekend’s fifth round of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Las Vegas.
The Kenya Harlequin back replaces Collins Injera, who returned home to be by his wife’s side as they expect their second child any moment from now. Coach Felix Ochieng admitted that they will miss Injera’s services but expressed confidence that Muhanji will fill his void. “It is of course a life event that we as a team and management do not take for granted.
We appreciate the role loved ones play in the wellbeing of our players and management, they are the unsung heroes who celebrate quietly and soldier emotions in good and bad times.
We respect the institution of marriage in the same breath as we do employers and academic institutions,” said Ochieng’. “He (Muhanji) comes in as we look to maintain our balance both technically and tactically without compromising on our deliverables, while at the same time it is a fantastic opportunity and challenge for Muhanji for we believe he can contribute positively to our team goals.”
Kenya, in Pool B will kick-off their Las Vagas campaign on Saturday against Cadana at 4.50 am, then take on Argentina at 7.46 am before wrapping up their group matches against England on Sunday at 12.30 am.
