LESS than two weeks to the presidential election, the Director-General (DG) of All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Organisation and River State governor, Rotimi Ameachi, has wooed Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, who is President Goodluck Jonathan’s North-West campaign coordinator.
Reports from the state indicated that the APC presidential campaign DG was in Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa State, on the invitation of his colleagues and arrived Dutse Government House at around 9.00 p.m on Saturday.
Findings by the Nigerian Tribune indicated that the two governors and opposition party gladiators started a close-door meeting at the presidential lodge of the Government House, where he (Amaechi) spent the night and Lamido privately met him and later reconvened another meeting at about 10:05 a.m which ended at 11:30 a.m.
The coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation for North-West zone, Lamido, who was in a blue attire and a blue cap, drove himself in a Peugeot 206 car without speaking to journalists and returned to his official residence after the meeting.
Also, Amaechi drove himself in a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with few escorts to the Government House and also declined to speak to journalists.
A journalist, who attempted to speak to him (Amaechi), greeted him and he replied “Good morning, how are you?’’
He further attempted to get him talk, but he said, “you can see me driving, I’m busy, I can’t talk now, good bye.”
Also in attendance at the meeting was an APC chieftain in the state, Alhaji Farouq Adamu Aliyu and the party’s candidate for Jigawa Central senatorial district, Alhaji Sabo.
Governors Lamido and Amaechi were in the same political camp during the Nigerian Governor’s Forum (NGF) where they opposed President Jonathan’s candidate and also were together when both left the mainstream PDP for the new PDP and there after, Amaechi left with four others.
