While millions on the East Coast are battling a blizzard on the ground, astronaut Scott Kelly is tweeting images of it – from space.
The massive snowstorm blanking much of the East Coast is visible from the International Space Station where Kelly is stationed for a year.
Kelly has been in space for 302 days, since March of last year.
The astronaut posted on Reddit today that he is the first American to spend a whole year in space continuously. A stepping stone to longer periods of space travel, including a mission to Mars.
“On this flight, my fourth spaceflight, I also became the record holder for total days in space and single longest mission. A year is a long time to live without the human contact of loved ones, fresh air and gravity, to name a few. While science is at the core of this groundbreaking spaceflight, it also has been a test of human endurance,” Kelly wrote.
