Blow To Mudavadi As Osman Is Reinstated As UDF Boss

UDF leader Musalia Mudavadi has suffered a major blow after the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal reinstated expelled Hassan Osman as the United Democratic Forum (UDF) Chairman.

The Tribunal Chairman Kyalo Mbuba said in his ruling that the National Executive Council meeting held on 16th September 2014 which came up with the resolution to expel Osman was irregular and illegal.

The Tribunal has further issued orders restraining UDF leader Musalia Mudavadi, deputy Jeremiah Kioni, Petronilla Were and Kassim Sawa from convening any UDF national governing council as well as National Delegates Congress without consultation with all party officials.

Mbuba has also issued orders restraining UDF NEC from expelling Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale and nominated Senator Martha Wangare over their loyalty to the party

The move by the Tribunal comes barely three months after delegates of UDF endorsed the expulsion of senators Khalwale and Wangare from the party.

UDF has been mired in a leadership tussle pitting party leader Mudavadi against the now reinstated chairman Hassan, after the former convened a meeting last month to remove Hassan for allegedly blocking the re-branding of the party.

In the last meeting, it was resolved that the party changes its name to Amani National Congress (ANC) as part of rebranding ahead of the next general election.
