A Bomet MCA died while three others were injured when a lorry collided head-on with a private car they were travelling in on Sunday evening.
Nyongores ward representative Cecilia Towett died in the 8pm crash near Eor Ekule trading centre along Narok – Mai Mahiu Highway.
The vehicle she was in was on its way from Naivasha from Bomet while the lorry was bound for Nairobi from Narok.
Witnesses said the lorry was speeding while overtaking, leading to the accident that left two of its occupants and Towett’s driver with injuries.
Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto and former Chepalungu parliamentary aspirant Benard Koros sent condolence messages, while Rutto later visited the scene.
Narok police commander Abdi Galgalo urged motorists to observe traffic rules.
The driver was taken to Narok County Referral Hospital and later transferred to Tenwek Mission Hospital in Bomet county.
The body was taken to the Narok hospital’s mortuary and the wreckage to Ntulele police station.
