CONTROVERSIAL former Tanzanian beauty queen and actress, Wema Sepetu, walked out on Nzumari Awards gala event held on Friday at Mombasa’s Azura Club, over what she alleged as a “scheme by the organiser to con” her Sh40,000.
The drama ensued when Wema learnt that Mombasa county executive for Sports, Culture and Gender, Mohamed Abbas, had fully catered for everything during her stay in Mombasa, but allegedly, Eve Queen (the award’s CEO) still asked her for accommodation money for her and the eight-person entourage.
Our sources close to Eve intimated that the money obtained from Wema was used to purchase the trophies awarded to artistes at the event.
“I have never came across such a heartless lady like you,” the irate Wema shouted to Eve, during a one-hour confrontation as she demanded back her money, before eventually storming out of the event.
In the awards, Wema had been nominated in the Social Personality of the Year category, alongside Kenyan socialites Huddah Monroe, Zari, Vera Sidika and Corazon Kwamboka.
On Saturday, Eve – together with her child – was arrested and detained at Bamburi Police Station for her failure to pay Sh6,000 to the security personnel hired for the event and Sh5,000 for a Mercedes Benz she had hired from Mkubwa Fela. According to a police source, the child was, however, rescued later by a pastor at around 8:30pm.
When reached for a comment, Eve declined to comment on the matter saying the allegations were all over the social media.
“I have seen what you guys have written. I can’t comment on anything,” she said.
