An armed gang raided the home of two-time world marathon winner Catherine Ndereba and stole household goods and money on Monday night.
The gang made away with Sh44,000 and items including an iPhone and an iPad, said Nairobi county CID chief Ireri Kamwende.
Kamwende said the thieves who broke into the Karen home also stole Ndereba’s Kenya Prisons uniforms.
Ndereba, who also won Olympic silver medals in 2004 and 2008, is still serving as a prison warden.
None of her family members was hurt in the incident, Kamwende said.
He noted that the heavy rain at the time of the incident made it easier for the robbers.
Ndereba who has also won four Boston and two Chicago marathons announced her retirement from competitive running in 2014 at age 41.
