Security Council condemns militant attack on Chadian army

The UN Security Council Thursday condemned “in the strongest terms” the continued escalation of Boko Haram attacks, including the one against the Chadian army contingent, Xinhua news agency reported.

Around 7,000 heavily armed militants attacked Fotokol, a town in Cameroon’s Far-North Region bordering Nigeria Wednesday morning, killing 13 Chadian soldiers and injuring several others.

There were fierce exchange of fire between the militants and the joint army of Chad and Cameroon. Fotokol was captured by the militants but joint army retained the control of the town a few hours later. And at least 300 militants were killed in the fighting.
