UASIN GISHU County are set to host the third Kenya Inter Counties Sports Association games in August.
The previous patron and host Nakuru County handed over the patronage to Uasin Gishu in a ceremony held on Thursday at the county’s Eldoret headquaters.
The games which brings together all the county governments staff includes indoor and outdoor ball games and athletics. Kicosca national secretary Muraya Kabiri said the previous edition in Nakuru was very successful and anticipates the current hosts will also stage a brilliant edition.
Muraya said the body granted Uasin Gishu the hosting rights after they had assessed the county’s capability.
“They have enough fields and accomodation to host the event. We are very happy that we will experience what the region that has produced world class athletes can do,”Muraya said.
Uasin Gishu County secretary Peter Lelei, on behalf of tGovernor Jackson Mandago said the county will complete the terraces renovation at Kipchoge Stadium.
The national government has completed the laying down of the tartan track and changing rooms.
“The county had promised to renovate the terraces and the work will be completed before the games begin. We are also renovating various fields such as the 64 stadium,” Lelei added.
He said the games will ensure performances and relationships among the county governments improves.
