Apple CEO Tim Cook has labelled claims his company forces Chinese workers on its iPhone and iPad assembly lines to work exhaustive overtime shifts as deeply offensive.
The BBC’s Panorama program made the allegations against the tech giant following an undercover investigation of the working conditions of the company’s Pegatron factories on the outskirts of Shanghai.
The reporters who went undercover secretly filmed the Apple workers, with footage showing many falling asleep during their 12 hours shifts on the iPhone 6 production line, UK newspaper The Telegraph reports.
