Imo, Oyo declare two-day holiday for PVCs’ collection

STRESSING the need for citizens to pick up their permanent voter cards (PVCs), the Imo and Oyo States governments have declared Thursday and Friday, February 5 and 6, 2015 work-free days to realise the objective.

Governor Rochas Okorocha who gave the directive in  Owerri while addressing school principals, head teachers and tutors in the 27 local councils of the state, said the move was geared at enfranchising them for  the February 14 and 28 elections.

Commending the teachers for their pivotal role in the success of the government’s free education policy in the state, Okorocha said education remained a major policy thrust of his administration, asking them to sustain the policy to the letter.

According to a release issued by the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Dr. Festus Adedayo, the break is to enable the people of the state to collect the facility.

The governor enjoined the people to take full advantage of the public holiday by coming out massively to collect their PVCs, reiterating that it is an opportunity for them to connect with their future through voting for candidates of their choice.
