Tzaneen police hunt for ‘gang of rapists’

Two women were reportedly raped by a group of men in separate incidents.

JOHANNESBURG – Police have launched a massive manhunt for a group of what they call ‘gang rapists’ who are on the run in Tzaneen after allegedly raping two women.

Both incidents happened on Friday night when two separate couples were walking in the Bolobedu South area.

A 21-year-old woman was raped in front of her boyfriend after the group attacked the couple and tied him up before attacking her.

In another incident the gang allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman in a bush after they chased her boyfriend away.

Officers have urged people to walk on safer routes during the day time and never alone.

The police’s Moatshe Moepe has urged anyone with information about the group’s whereabouts to come forward.
